When you're committed to a journey of a thousand miles, a few steps in the wrong direction can't possibly bring you down. But if you have no overall direction, each negative step can seem devastating.

If the little things are constantly bringing you down, that's a sign that the big things aren't compelling enough. If the minor annoyances seem like major setbacks, then work on looking beyond them.

There is some purpose that will lift you above whatever setbacks may come. There is some purpose that will compel you to a positive action,even when circumstances of the moment work against you.

There is some reason you want what you want. There is some desire that drives all your desires. Look beneath the surface of your day-to-day life and ask why?

 Dig deeply and discover the rich, special purpose that makes you who you are. Focus you attention on the goal of the journey.

 And you'll hardly even notice the detours along the way .

Inspiration. Webster calls it a high level of activity or feeling that causes one to take action. In your life, right now, what would you call it? Your fitness expectations, your workouts, your relationships or your career - would you call them inspirational?

Can you easily push yourself consistently to get the results you want? Or are you spurred on to great achievement when you are near special people and places?

Many people find it very difficult to push themselves to great achievement by themselves. Most people need that outside source of encouragement. That encouragement could come in the form of words. It could be something that was said to you or something that you said to others that caused a major rumble in your or someone else's life.

Words can be powerful motivators. Think of a chance remark you made to a friend, something you put out of your mind immediately. The next thing you know, your friend is telling you about his latest accomplishment, and how you inspired it. Our actions and words affect people in ways that we may never know. Yet it does take more than just words to inspire you to great heights. It takes being around people who are doing what you want to be doing. You must surround yourself with people who excel at the things you want to excel in. Seek these people out, associate with them and learn from them.

Can you hear yourself now? Why should I do that? I'll eventually get to where I want to be. I can do what they can do. I'll do it on my own. Get rid of the foolish pride. It tells you that you don't need anyone but yourself to accomplish your goals. When you refuse to learn from others, you close a BIG door to GREATER SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS.

With out the positive influence of others, you may seek the level of comfort in life that doesn't produce the GREAT RESULTS that you are capable of. Think back to a time when you were doing the same old exercises, the same old reps, you had a level of comfort, but you made no progress.

Now think back to the time that you, by chance, worked out with someone who was much stronger, who had a great bench or great squat. What happened when you worked out with that person? Yes, right. You had a terrific workout! You pushed yourself harder than you could have by yourself. Your weights, your reps, your intensity and your results dramatically increased. All because you were around someone who could inspire you. You adapted to the situation. You became stronger and increased your intensity. You experienced a new level of greatness in your life. You put your best to the test. You grow, not only physically, but in every area of your life when you put the best that you have to the test. You do this whenever you put yourself near the people who can inspire you in the environment that is a fertile soil for positive growth.

However, be prepared, when it comes to finding the best gym to train in or the best environment to workout in. to encounter those ego trips. Don't waste your time on them. Look for those who will inspire you to greater achievements. In fact, you will find that the truly successful people you admire, whether they may be in the gym or at your job, are more than likely very approachable and can be very helpful if you will only ask (and then listen, of course).

The truly inspirational people have been where you are right now. They didn't start at the top. They asked many questions of others who excelled at what they wanted to do. They observed and they keep an open mind about how they could use and apply the sessions they learned.

When you seek out those people who are making those things happen with their lives, you are actually seeking to become one of them. You are beginning to do what it takes for you to eventually become an inspiration to others. When you are around those who can inspire you, you begin to reach down deep inside of you to achieve the things you want. That may be a great body, advancement in your career, becoming an expert at your hobby or building a personal relationship into something spectacular. Being near the right people can and will make it happen for you.

Make a statement in your life! The people you admire have all made statements with their lives. You can do the same. In whatever you do, put your best to the test.
